Dream Design
You’ll never cease to be amazed by the functionality and convenience of this slick duo. On both the smartphone-like remote and the app through the hub, you can change channels, adjust volume, fast-forward and rewind using motion gestures. The remote’s backlit controls can be easily seen in the dark, while commonly-used buttons are located under the screen for added practicality. There’s even a sleep timer, so you can drift off to sleep and let the Harmony 950 take care of turning off your devices.
Simple Remote 950 Set-Up
All you need is an internet-connected PC to connect devices to your remote. You simply add each one’s brand and model number, then get customising. Create your own multi-device, one-touch activities, up to 50 favourite channels and frequently used commands. Then you can customise the dedicated media playback, cable/satellite and digital video recorder controls, so your Harmony 950 is as personal to you as your living room.
Intuitive & Bespoke App Interface
The Hub works by beaming wireless Infrared (IR), Wi-Fi or Bluetooth commands from the app to your devices. Just enter the brand and model number of each device then immerse yourself in Harmony App’s clean, simple design. It comes with a range of customisation options too, so your set-up will become as personal and familiar as your home. Like the remote, you can use the 50 customisable channel favourites then jump straight to them or launch multi-device activities with just one-touch.
Charged & Ready
Make sure you’ll never have to live without your Harmony 950 with the included charging station. You won’t have to rush to put it back after every use though, as the replaceable battery has 20% greater capacity than previous generation Harmony remotes.
Shelly –
I recently purchased this Logitech Harmony Elite to replace a Philips Pronto programable remote control (approx 5 years old).
My primary reason for purchase was to control my TV (LG) and associated audio and input devices (Sky HD, BlueRay, Apple TV). The equipment, with the exception of the TV, is located inside a cabinet, and direct IR control (e.g. via the original remote control) is not possible. I am using the Harmony Hub and supplied IR blasters inside the cabinet, and have the remote set to control the TV by direct IR.
I completed the initial set up of my remote in less than 2 hours using the Harmony App on an iPad Mini 4. Compared to previous devices I have owned (such as the Pronto), the set up was extremely straightforward. I added all of my equipment from the Logitech database in a few minutes, and then set up ‘Activities’ such as ‘Watch TV’ to control all of the different devices, including switching them on and off, and selecting the correct inputs. The App did most of the work, and even suggested the components that might be used for each Activity. New Activities are first tested via the App to confirm everything is working as expected. I needed to make a few adjustments, which was made very easy due to the structured troubleshooting built in to the App, which provided good feedback and information throughout. I have found it quick and easy to make minor adjustments to the set up. The configuration syncs wirelessly to the handset, and all of the buttons appear to be correctly assigned for the different devices.
The App also provides an option to control the system independently of the remote. This is useful, but so far I prefer the remote with its physical buttons and touchscreen. The screen is moderate resolution compared to modern phones, but clear enough to use. The additional menu options and information available via the screen is beneficial.
In summary, a very good product that would score 5* but for the relatively high cost.
